Each Sunday at Jacob’s Well, it is exciting to know that the music, sermon and prayers going on in the Sanctuary are only a fraction of the worship that is taking place throughout the church. A quick tour of the building reveals that, in almost every space, children, families and other members of the JW community are engaging in a wide array of worship and faith practices. By practicing faith together, children develop positive, lasting relationships with each other and with our adult volunteers. It is our hope that these faith practices will help our children explore their journey of faith and relationship with God in meaningful ways that leads them to become life-long followers of Christ. As you enter the building on Sunday morning, please stop by the Kids’ Community Welcome Table to sign in your children and create a nametag for infants and toddlers. Registration cards, visitor nametags and information about classroom location are also available at this table. We begin each Sunday gathering by worshiping together as an entire community. In the morning, bring your children with you into the Sanctuary; after a few songs and the call to worship, we will dismiss them to participate in age-appropriate worship experiences where they will be cared for and engaged with by members of our community. *Parents, please walk with your children to their classrooms. Kids’ Community and Youth activities are offered at the following times on Sundays: 9 AM 11 AM 5:30 PM
An Invitation to Worship with Kids’ Community
Below are descriptions of some of these other worship spaces. If you would like to know how you can be involved in any of these spaces beginning this fall, please email Candace Shaw by Sunday, July 25, 2010.
Babes, Movers & Groovers: Infants and toddlers are provided a safe and nurturing environment to engage in their own worship. They participate in songs, Bible story time, movement, conceptual play, free playtime and communion (snacks).
Loft Kids: Our preschoolers are invited into the story of God through developmental, age-appropriate and hands-on learning. Children explore and engage all their senses through storytelling, play, music, and art. We use repetition to create a rhythm so that every child can be comfortable and experience a sense of belonging. Through prayer and sacred spaces we begin to introduce spiritual practices.
Grade School: First through fifth grade children are invited to engage in the narrative of God through worship in a wide variety of activities including journeying together with adults and children in community, storytelling, prayer, art, music, drama, play, and communion.
Youth: Students in middle school and high school are invited to participate in the JW community through relationships with other teens and with adults who are excited to journey with these young people. The environment and activities of the JW Youth are designed to engage these teenagers in relevant and long-lasting ways as they live out their faith through worship, conversations, service and play.Parent Information
